Overview
Who are our apps for? Our apps are designed specifically for lawn bowlers. They are built by bowlers for bowlers, bowling captains and bowling clubs.
Do I need to download the apps from an app store? No. Our Apps aren't in Apple App Store or Google Play Store. To use one of our apps you simply open in your phone's browser and, if you'd like, add the app to your home screen so it's always at hand. There's nothing to download and no app store account needed.
Do I need to create an account? Yes, you'll need to register with an email address and password. This is what keeps your data safe and lets you access it across different devices.
Using on Your Devices
Can I use apps on my mobile phone? Yes — Our apps work on both iPhone and Android phones. You can use them in your browser or add to your home screen so it opens just like any other app.
Can I use apps on a tablet or laptop? Yes. Our apps work in any modern browser, so you can use it on a tablet, laptop, or desktop computer as well as your phone. Many bowlers find it handy to be able to use a bigger screen, particularly if they have a few matches to log.
Do they work on iPhone and Android? Yes, our apps work on both. We've tested them on Safari (iPhone) and Chrome (Android and desktop). If you're using a different browser and experience any problems, please contact us.
Do I need an internet connection? Yes, our apps require an internet connection to use. They won't work offline, so you'll need mobile data or Wi-Fi when logging matches or viewing your performance.
Installing the App
What does "install" actually mean — am I downloading something? Nothing is downloaded in the traditional sense. "Installing" simply means adding a shortcut to your phone's home screen so your app opens like a proper app — full screen, with no browser bar. It takes about 30 seconds and you can remove it at any time just like any other app. See our product pages for details on how to install.
Can I use app in a browser without installing it? Yes. Installing to your home screen is optional. You can use our apps entirely within your browser if you prefer.
Why do I need to use Safari on iPhone? Apple only allows the "Add to Home Screen" feature through Safari on iPhone. If you're using Chrome or another browser on your iPhone, you won't see the option. Simply open the app in Safari and follow the install instructions on our website.
Cost and Payment
How many matches can I record for free? Your first 10 matches are completely free — no payment details required. This gives you plenty of time to try the app and make sure it works for you before committing to anything.
What happens when I reach 10 matches — do I lose my data? No, your data is safe. When you reach your 10 match limit you'll be prompted to subscribe to continue adding new matches, but everything you've already recorded remains visible and accessible.
How much does it cost after the free matches? Green Bowler costs £9.99 per year for our Silver subscription — less than £1 a month. That gives you unlimited match logging, access to all Silver features for a full season and any new Silver features we add during your subscription period. Gold costs £14.99 per year and includes everything in Silver plus 3 AI coaching summaries per season and the ability to download you match data.
What payment methods are accepted? We accept all major credit and debit cards. Payments are handled securely by Paddle, a trusted payment provider used by thousands of software companies worldwide.
Is my payment secure? Yes. We don't store your payment details ourselves. All payments are processed by Paddle, who handle security, encryption, and compliance on our behalf.
Will I be automatically renewed each year? Yes, your subscription renews automatically each year so there's no risk of losing access mid-season. You can cancel at any time from within the app.
How do I cancel my subscription? You can cancel at any time from within the app. Go to your account settings and select Manage Subscription. Your access will continue until the end of the period you've paid for.
Can I get a refund? If you've subscribed and then haven't used the app at all, please contact us and we'll consider a refund on a case by case basis. We want our apps to work for you, and we'll always try to be reasonable.
Using the App
What match formats does it cover? Our app covers singles, pairs, triples, fours and other. Our Captains App can manage other formats such as Top Club where you have a different number of bowlers in each team.
Can I record matches for more than one club? Yes. If you're a member of more than one club, you can record matches for both in our Green Bowler App. Simply select the relevant club as your home club on your Account page or when you are creating your first matches. You can mark more than one club as a home club
Does it work for indoor bowls as well as outdoor? Yes — Green Bowler supports both outdoor and indoor seasons. The app adapts automatically depending on the season type, showing the relevant fields for each.
Is my data private — can other users see my results? No. Your match data is private to you. Other users cannot see your performance or results. See our Privacy page for more details.
Technical and Support
What browsers do the apps work on? We've tested on Safari and Chrome, which cover the vast majority of users. If you're using a different browser and experience any issues, please contact us and we'll do our best to help.
I'm having trouble logging in — what should I do? First try the "Forgot password" option on the login screen. If that doesn't resolve it, please contact us and we'll get it sorted.
